XRP Rebounds 5% After $184 Million Binance Inflow Defends $1.30 Support

Speculative traders in the derivatives market executed a large-scale defensive maneuver for XRP, according to data from CryptoQuant. The intervention occurred after the token corrected 22.5% from its September high of $1.65, falling below the key $1.30 support level.

$184 Million Inflow on Binance

Analyst DarkFrost from CryptoQuant identified an abnormal capital inflow on Binance following the release of U.S. macroeconomic data. More than $184 million flowed into long contracts within a few hours. This influx of liquidity was isolated to Binance, with on-chain data indicating that the defensive wave bypassed other major exchanges.

The capital injection reversed the downward momentum that had pushed XRP below $1.30. Following the inflow, the token recorded a local rebound of 5%. DarkFrost noted that large market participants viewed the breach of the $1.30 level as an extreme market asymmetry. This perception prompted them to open positions against the prevailing bearish trend, effectively launching a counterattack to defend the asset from a prolonged decline.

Volume Discrepancies Across Exchanges

On-chain metrics highlight a stark contrast in buying activity between platforms during the peak hour of the intervention. On Binance, the volume of market buy orders, referred to as Taker Buy Volume, exceeded $73 million. In the same peak hour, the volume of similar buys on Bybit was only $1 million, while on OKX it was less than $451,000.

Several subsequent hourly intervals on Binance brought in an additional $35 million each. The concentration of this activity suggests the spike reflects the opening of leveraged positions rather than long-term interest from spot investors. The data indicates that the majority of speculative capital was concentrated on a single platform, creating a specific liquidity profile for XRP during this period.

Macro Drivers and Volatility Risks

The initial decline in XRP was triggered by U.S. consumer price (CPI) and producer price (PPI) indices that were hotter than expected. These figures placed pressure on the broader cryptocurrency sector and triggered a drop in U.S. stock indices. According to the analysis, the high concentration of margin contracts in a narrow price range on Binance now makes XRP vulnerable to cascading liquidations.

The current market structure is expected to result in increased volatility in the coming days as these leveraged positions remain active. The interplay between macroeconomic data releases and speculative derivatives trading continues to dictate short-term price movements for major digital assets, with Binance serving as the primary venue for this specific defensive action.

Why It Matters

The concentration of $184 million in leveraged long positions on a single exchange creates a specific risk profile for XRP traders. If price action reverses, these concentrated positions are prone to cascading liquidations, which could amplify volatility. Market participants need to account for this structural imbalance, as the defensive move was driven by derivatives speculation rather than broad spot demand.
